My name is Seth Thompson; owner/photographer at Epiglotic Photographic. I concentrate almost exclusively on editorial portraits of musicians, actors...anyone involved in the performing arts. I create images that, rather than being a simple portrait, imply a narrative or a backstory. Which is why I love working with performers; they are already storytellers by vocation. Collaborating with storytellers makes it easy to reach my ultimate goal: to create images you can FEEL. Some photographers don't like working with musicians and actors. I LOVE it. My experience has been that performers are willing to try anything in order to get that image that tells the story. (Just ask The Right Now, who were willing to be thrown into Lake Michigan. In late September. At 4am). Which is no surprise; performers are out beyond the comfort zone at every show. So if you're a performer (or a performer's agent/manager), contact me. Just like a musician serving the song, or an actor serving the scene, we're here to get the shot that stops people in their tracks. Whatever that takes is just what it takes. Safe, crazy or downright stupid; I'll be right in there with you. As you'll see on the portfolio page, I'm also opening a new avenue in my photographic path: working for aid organizations/NGOs to create compelling images for use in fundraising/marketing. Some client comments: "Seth was the photographer we wanted from the get-go and he didn't disappoint. His input before the shoot was crucial and his photographs are straight from our dreams! His easy-going manner made it a pleasure for everyone - on all levels. Highly recommended!" "Seth Thompson is a phenomenal photographer. One of the things I appreciated about him most was his willingness (without me having to ask) to search around the city for appropriate locations. He probably looked for a couple of weeks to find just the right spot for our shoot. The pictures came out PERFECT. Seth is timely, professional, and most importantly, thinks outside the norm to get the best shots. He comes highly recommended." |
